SummaryWriter is a simple program developed in order to facilitate our experiments. As can be see in Figure 1, the program display the text to be summaries in the top panel of the screen, whereas the bottom one allows the user to edit the text. This program does not include any automatic summarisation methods and it was used observe how humans produce summaries when they do not any specialised tool.

Figure 1: The main screen of the SummaryWriter

During the summarisation process, SummaryWriter records two parameters: the time necessary to complete the process and any Copy/Paste operations. These parameters can be investigated using the Analyser developed for this purpose.

Figure 2: The main screen of the Analyser tool

Using the Analyser tool, it is easy to identify whenever a sentence was used directly from the sources and when words were inserted in a copied sentence. At present, the Analyser cannot identify cases where spaces have been removed. For this reason, in the above image the output is a bit strange. This problem will be fixed in the near future.

More details about the programs and how to obtain and use them will be added in the near future. However, if you have questions please contact Constantin Orasan.
